As we were waiting for our transport back to Cumaná I took a sneak peak at Carpintería Lemus, where the typical wooden boats used in the area were being either made or repaired.
A sign hangs from the ceiling that reads: "No se prestan ni se alquilan las herramientas a nadie. Esto incluye a hermanos, sobrinos, tíos, amigos mas allegados, porque no le da la gana. El dueño".
This translates as: "Tools are not lent or rented to anyone. This includes brothers, nephews, uncles, friends and next of kins. Because he (the owner) does not feel like it".
